Tolerances

For defects en route or at destination. 12% total including 8% for permanent defects; 6% for defects causing serious damage, including 4% for serious damage by permanent defects and not more than 2% for decay.

Good Delivery Guidelines:
15% total, including 8% serious damage, including 3% decay

Common Defects:

Damage by:

(a) Bruising, when more than ½ inch in area or more than 1/8 inch in depth.

(b) Shriveling, when pronounced shriveling occurs on the shoulders of the fruit or when it affects more than 3% of the surface.

(c) Silvering, when more than more than 10% of the surface is affected by silvering.

 

Serious damage by:

(a) Bruising, when more than ¼ inch in area or more than ¾ inch in depth.

(b) Shriveling, when shriveling is deep or when it affects more than 5% of the surface.

(c) Silvering, when more than more than 25% of the surface is affected by silvering.
